Drag-and-drop, Visual planner

Start before you feel ready and trust that you WILL figure it out along the way. No one knows exactly what they are doing in the beginning. Success comes from learning as you go and allowing yourself to make mistakes so you can learn from them.

What do you think about when you’re alone in the car?

Funny enough, I often have my best business ideas while in my car! However, as a new mom to an almost two-year-old boy, I’ve come to cherish driving in complete silence. I practice difficult conversations with team members or clients, rehearse for speaking engagements, and brainstorm interview questions for the podcast. Don't underestimate drive time!

What is your favorite memory from an event?

As the creator and host of the Renaissance Women’s Summit, I've had many memorable moments, especially from our most recent sold-out conference in Nashville this February. We had the privilege of hearing from Alli Webb, founder of Dry Bar, and Brittany Driscoll, former Marketing Director of Dry Bar and now CEO of Squeeze, who shared their journey of building and selling the most successful blowout business ever for $250 million. The audience's reaction was incredible as these two trailblazers were transparent about their struggles and setbacks, spotlighting how these challenges shaped them into resilient business owners.

What’s your mantra?

The universe is working for you, not against you.

What’s your favorite place to Planoly?

In my office with my amazing team! We've transformed our little corner of Nashville into a very pink-themed creative zone. We love gathering to review the Planoly grids we create for our clients, collaborating to make each one perfect for the brands we represent.

Why I Planoly...

Standing out in today’s crowded social media landscape, flooded with "how-to tips" and "top 10 lists," is crucial for a brand’s success. The time and energy it takes to create original, memorable content in this environment is incredibly challenging but absolutely essential to a brand’s success. People appreciate original ideas that make them feel something, whether it's laughter, a tug at their heartstrings, or inspiration.

This is where Renaissance Marketing Group (RMG) comes in. Founded by Sydney Dozier in 2014, RMG partners with brands to break through the noise, resonate with their audience and make a lasting impact. Whether just starting or stuck in a rut, they help companies elevate their business through social media marketing, content creation, and growth strategies.

"My favorite aspect of operating a business is the boundless potential that every new day brings"

From burnout to breakthrough

Sydney launched her idea during a period of creative burnout. After leaving her marketing director role at a major music museum in Nashville, she returned home to Atlanta, needing to reset and focus on herself as she figured out her next step. As her unwavering supporter, her dad knew her potential and one day suggested she start something on her own. This idea sparked a newfound determination in her and that night, she scribbled a rough 'business plan' on a piece of notebook paper in her childhood bedroom. She still keeps that framed piece of paper as a reminder of the humble beginnings of her now thriving social media business. And the rest, as they say, is history.

Getting started was a real challenge, as there weren’t as many resources in the field of social media as there are today. But you won’t go anywhere if you don’t take that initial first step. From that initial jumble of ideas, RMG has grown into a premier social media agency based in Nashville, TN. Sydney and her team collaborate with a range of clients, from individual entrepreneurs to multinational corporations and nonprofits.

She attributes this growth to a few key factors: social media, customer service & communication, and exceptional content creation. While all three factors are crucial to RMG’s growth, content creation demands agility in an ever-evolving tech and trend landscape. This was especially true when Instagram shifted its algorithm to prioritize originality, leaving many creators worried about their User-Generated Content strategies. At RMG, each team member already juggles 6-8 content calendars monthly (about 175 pieces of content per person). With the workload piling up, they dedicated even more time to brainstorming.

Collaboration breeds creativity

To combat creative burnout, RMG launched Content Collaboration Sessions. Gathered in their pink wallpapered conference room, the entire team brainstorms ideas for every brand, regardless of the account manager. These sessions harness the team's collective creativity, generating fresh ideas that inspire each account manager, streamline content creation and fuel originality. Many of their most successful campaigns and viral content have sprung from these collaborative efforts.

Additional avenues for brand visibility include Renaissance Women’s Summits, which strategically position the agency in front of its target audience. The Renaissance Podcast has been invaluable for business development, connecting RMG with leading women founders and CEOs for intimate conversations about their entrepreneurial journeys. (Fun fact: Planoly’s CEO was featured in an episode!) Sydney is always building relationships with other CEOs to ensure RMG is top of mind for outsourced social media marketing.

In essence, RMG’s journey embodies the impact of optimism, teamwork, and adaptability in navigating the ever-evolving landscape of digital marketing. As Sydney and her team continue to innovate and inspire, RMG remains at the forefront, empowering brands to stand out and thrive in a competitive digital world.
