First Apple, now Instagram. Earlier today, Instagram confirmed to TechCrunch, after rumors had been swirling online, that they will soon roll out a feature allowing users to schedule direct messages (DMs) to send later. This is exciting news for creators and businesses who count on Instagram for seamless communication. No more telling yourself you’ll respond to that message in the morning – and then completely forgetting about it.
Scheduling a DM is simple. All you need to do is type out your message, hold down the send button, and select a date and time for the message to be sent. You can schedule messages up to 29 days in advance. Once a message is scheduled, a banner will appear in the chat that reads “1 scheduled message” until the scheduled message is delivered.
This new feature is part of Instagram’s broader push to improve the messaging experience for creators and businesses. Last month, Instagram introduced updates that allowed users to filter message requests. These filters make it easy to sort messages from other creators, business accounts, accounts you follow, verified accounts, and more. They also added a dedicated folder for story replies, streamlining engagement and making it easier for creators to connect with their followers and manage conversations.
